Testing Information for Vendors

The Initiative performs compliance and interoperability testing. Compliance testing checks the software submitted for test to see if data output is done so in compliance with the requirements of the specification and that the software can accept data that has been formatted as required by the specification. Interoperability testing checks two different pieces of software to ensure that data and service calls are exchanged between the pair of software products in a manner that is supported by the MultiSpeak specification. The Initiative does not perform testing to ensure that software performs as advertised or meets any specific load or volume performance requirements.

MultiSpeak compliance testing may be provided only by contractors approved by the MultiSpeak Advisory Board. At present there is one such contractor, Utility Integration Solutions, Inc. (UISOL). Under no circumstances may a vendor provide compliance or interoperability testing for its own products.

Compliance testing services are provided at the cost of the party(s) requesting those services. Either software vendors or software user organizations may request testing. Compliance testing is provided at $250/hour, with a minimum fee of $1,000 for which up to three hours of testing services are provided.

Once an application meets all of the requirements for testing, NRECA will post the testing report on this Website.

To schedule a compliance test, you may contact the testing agent’s representative listed on the Contact Us page of this Website. You will be required to provide a $1,000 deposit to hold your testing slot. Payments by credit card are acceptable.
