Who Uses MultiSpeak?
A survey conducted in early 2008 indicated that MultiSpeak implementations (with at least two interfaced programs) were in place at over 250 utilities. This data was obtained from vendors. Survey responses were obtained from only seven vendors and therefore the total market penetration is likely to be significantly larger.
MultiSpeak had it origins in serving the smaller utility and electric cooperative markets and has focused on soliciting participation of those vendors which typically serve the small utility market. Therefore it is not surprising that the majority of the current installations are in electric cooperatives. However, with the incorporation of web services and especially the recent addition of the service bus architecture, the capabilities of MultiSpeak are scalable and the uses are not limited to smaller utilities. This recent recognition has lead to a growing interest in the power of MultiSpeak among municipal and investor-owned utilities. In the survey, seven municipals and seven investor-owned utilities were also found to have implemented MultiSpeak.
There is a growing familiarity and significant interest internationally in MultiSpeak developments as well.
